This picture book, created for last semester’s Book Project, tells the story of a little girl who dreams of becoming a dragon. The book gently invites readers to wonder what it truly means to be a dragon. Is a dragon always the powerful creature we imagine? What does it really take to become one?

It’s a story for children about the quiet challenge of understanding how difficult dreams can be—and the courage it takes to pursue them anyway.

When illustrating children’s books, I often picture my little sister as the one I’m telling the story to. Perhaps that’s why fairy tales often find their way into my work. Sometimes I write stories with twists and turns, and I catch myself thinking, “Would she understand this?”
